NDIS access support for adults applying for the first time.
Applying for the NDIS as an adult can feel impossibly bureaucratic. Our role is to prepare the OT evidence the NDIA needs to make a fair decision — written in the format they want, with the language they understand. We are not lawyers, and we are not advocates, but we know how to write reports that hold their weight.
What we provide.
- A functional impact report setting out how your disability affects daily life — written to the criteria the NDIA assesses against.
- Guidance on what other evidence the agency will want from your GP, specialists, and other clinicians.
- Clear explanations of what each part of the application means and why it is being asked.
- Honest conversations about whether your situation is likely to meet the access criteria. Sometimes the answer is no — and we will tell you that early so you do not invest months in a process unlikely to succeed.
Who this service is suited to.
Most often, we work with adults who:
- Have a permanent or long-term disability and have not previously applied for the NDIS.
- Have been told by their GP, specialist, or hospital social worker that the NDIS may help.
- Have applied previously and been rejected, and need stronger functional impact evidence for a re-application.
- Have an adult child, parent, or partner advocating on their behalf and want clear, professional documentation.
Common questions about access requests.
How is this billed if I'm not on the NDIS yet?
Pre-NDIS access work is billed privately. Most adult access reports take four to six hours of OT time including the assessment session and report writing. We give you a written estimate before starting.
Will an OT report alone get me onto the NDIS?
Usually not by itself. The NDIA wants evidence from multiple sources — typically your GP, the relevant medical specialist, and a functional impact report from an allied health professional. We work alongside the others. We will explain who else needs to provide what.
How long does the whole process take?
The OT report itself takes around four weeks. The full NDIS application — including gathering all other evidence and the NDIA's own decision timeline — typically takes three to six months from start to finish.
